Prologue
The Italian Mafia in America emerged in Los Santos' East Side, and Temple. It also emerged in other areas of the East Coast of the United States and several other major metropolitan areas (such as Los Santos) during the late 19th century and early 20th Century following waves of Italian immigration, especially from Sicily. It has its roots in the Sicilian Mafia, but is a separate organization in the United States. Neapolitan, Calabrian, and other Italian criminal groups in America, as well as independent Italian-American criminals, eventually merged with the Sicilians to create the modern pan-Italian Mafia in North America. Today, the American Mafia cooperates in various criminal activities with the Sicilian Mafia and other Italian organized crime groups.
There have been at least 26 cities around the United States with Cosa Nostra families, with many more offshoots, splinter groups and associates in other cities. There are five main New York City Mafia families, known as the Five Families: the Gambino, Lucchese, Genovese, Bonanno and Colombo families. At its peak, the Mafia dominated organized crime in the U.S. While each crime family operates independently, nationwide coordination is provided by the Commission, which consists of the bosses of each of the strongest families.
2. Overview
Since their appearance in the 1800s, the Italian criminal societies known as the Mafia have infiltrated the social and economic fabric of Italy and now impact the world. They are some of the most notorious and widespread of all criminal societies.
We estimate the four groups have approximately 25,000 members total, with 250,000 affiliates worldwide. There are more than 3,000 members and affiliates in the U.S., scattered mostly throughout the major cities in the Northeast, the Midwest, California, and the South. Their largest presence centers around New York, southern New Jersey, and Philadelphia.
Their criminal activities are international with members and affiliates in Canada, South America, Australia, and parts of Europe. They are also known to collaborate with other international organized crime groups from all over the world, especially in drug trafficking.
The major threats to American society posed by these groups are drug trafficking and money laundering. They have been involved in heroin trafficking for decades. Two major investigations that targeted Italian organized crime drug trafficking in the 1980s are known as the 'Fishy Connection'
A long While
Sicilians weren’t concerned if the group profited from its actions because it came at the expense of the oppressive authorities. These secret societies eventually grew into the Mafia.
Since the 1900s, thousands of Italian organized crime figures—mostly Sicilian Mafiosi—have come illegally to this country. Many who fled here in the early 1920s helped establish what is known today as La Cosa Nostra or the American Mafia.

The TA, originally from the Florence, the ‘toe’ of Italy, they have spread their tentacles into the north of San Andreas and into neighbouring countries forming links with the Colombian cartels and the IRA among others. They supply an estimated 80 per cent of Europe's cocaine.
Details of the recorded meeting were revealed on Tuesday by San Andreas police who released part of the footage.
In the quasi-religious ceremony, which also borrows from freemasonry traditions, those present organised their hierarchy and allotted roles to each other.
Sitting round a table with heads bowed, the group ‘baptised’ their surroundings. Then the footage shows the boss asking them to agree 'a sacred bond'. (SMIC case)

Concerning language, it is likely that all tribe members who stick around for a few years ICly will have learnt to speak English in order to communicate, and a deal of new associates as well.
